- Our Data Freelancers community is built on the foundation of mutual respect, professional growth, and collaborative support. We are an invite-only community of data experts who value mutual respect and shared learning.
- Our goal is to maintain a safe, helpful, and professional environment for all members, regardless of expertise, background, education level, or any other demographic trait or defining characteristic.
- This Code of Conduct applies to all community interactions within our platforms, including but not limited to Discord channels, video calls, networking events, and any one-on-one communications between members that relate to community activities.
- As professionals in the data field, we hold ourselves to high standards both within our community and in our broader professional conduct.

Expected Behavior
- Be welcoming and kind: Help create an environment where all members feel valued and can contribute meaningfully.
- Be respectful and professional: Treat all members with courtesy and professionalism, recognizing that we come from diverse backgrounds and experience levels.
- Share knowledge generously: Offer helpful advice, resources, and insights while being mindful of confidentiality and intellectual property.
- Ask thoughtful questions: When seeking help, provide context and show that you’ve made an effort to solve the problem yourself.
- Respect confidentiality: Do not share sensitive client information, proprietary methods, or personal details shared by other members without explicit permission.
- Give constructive feedback: When offering criticism or suggestions, focus on being helpful and specific rather than dismissive.
- Support fellow freelancers: Celebrate others’ successes, offer encouragement during challenges, and consider collaboration opportunities.
Unacceptable Behavior
The following behaviors are not tolerated in our community:
- Discrimination or harassment: Conduct or speech that is sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, or otherwise discriminatory, including inappropriate nicknames, jokes, or dismissive attitudes.
- Personal attacks: Insults, threats, or aggressive behavior directed at individuals.
- Professional misconduct:
- Deliberately undermining other members’ business relationships
- Sharing confidential client information without permission
- Poaching clients through community connections inappropriately
- Misrepresenting credentials or experience
- Disruptive behavior:
- Excessive self-promotion or spam
- Sustained off-topic discussions that derail conversations
- Repeatedly ignoring community guidelines after warnings
- Inappropriate content: Sharing offensive, explicit, or illegal material.
- Privacy violations: Sharing personal information about members without consent or using community connections for unauthorized marketing.
- Intimidation: Making others feel unwelcome, uncomfortable, or unsafe through words or actions.
Professional Guidelines
As a community of freelancers, we also adhere to these professional standards:
- Respect intellectual property: Give credit for ideas, methods, and resources shared by others.
- Maintain client confidentiality: Do not share identifiable client information or work without proper authorization.
- Practice transparent communication: Be honest about your capabilities, availability, and any potential conflicts of interest.
- Honor business relationships: Respect existing client relationships and avoid inappropriate solicitation.
- Support fair compensation: Advocate for appropriate pricing and resist participating in practices that undervalue data work.
Reporting and Enforcement
- Self-regulation: We encourage members to address minor issues directly and professionally when comfortable doing so.
- Reporting mechanism: For serious violations or when direct communication isn’t appropriate, contact the community moderators at [email protected].
- Response process: All reports will be handled confidentially and investigated promptly. We will communicate with all involved parties as appropriate.
- Consequences: Violations may result in:
- Private warning and coaching
- Temporary suspension from community activities
- Permanent removal from the community
- In severe cases, notification to relevant professional networks or authorities
Appeals Process
- Members who believe they have been unfairly sanctioned may appeal the decision by contacting the moderation team within 14 days.
- Appeals will be reviewed by a different moderator when possible.
- The appeals process will be conducted fairly and transparently.

This Code of Conduct is adapted from various open-source community guidelines, including the Rust Code of Conduct, Django Code of Conduct, and Slack Community Code of Conduct, modified specifically for our professional data freelancers community.
