Here at Data Freelancers, we’re marching on! On the heels of our 1st group and then our 2nd group of 10 freelancers to join the platform earlier this year, we’re excited to welcome and announce our 3rd group of 10! Like the first two groups, these 10 fully vetted freelancers are true experts in their fields, and they specialize in a variety of disciplines in data and AI, including data engineering, business intelligence, infographics, and data storytelling.

Without further ado, here they are…

  • Duncan Geere – Duncan is an information designer and data storyteller based in Sweden. He helps organizations solving social problems to communicate their data stories, and has worked with organizations like Conservation International, ClientEarth, the Gates Foundation, Information is Beautiful and Project Drawdown. He is a co-founder of the Loud Numbers data sonification studio, the Decibels sonification community, and the Elevate dataviz learning community. You can work with Duncan to get actionable advice on data storytelling.
  • Ian Ferguson – Ian is a full stack data engineer based in Brooklyn, New York. He specializes in building and shipping systems to automate data ingestion and transformation across a variety of platforms. His expertise ranges from web application development to data modeling with dbt and configuring cloud infrastructure with Terraform. You can work with Ian to supercharge your data with dbt.
  • Lisa Hitch – Lisa is a Data Consultant at The Information Lab US, a Tableau Ambassador, an Adjunct Lecturer in Biostatistics and Quantitative Research at the CUNY School of Public Health, and a PhD Candidate in Community Health. In her consulting work, Lisa helps clients across industries build impactful Tableau dashboards, streamline workflows with Alteryx and SQL, and implement data strategies that drive adoption.   • Yael Shinkar – Yael is a data visualization journalist, designer, and lecturer passionate about turning complex ideas into clear, impactful stories. She began her career in Israel’s major economic newspapers, where she led infographic departments and built creative teams that reshaped how data is communicated in journalism. Today, she teaches infographic design at leading academic institutions. Beyond academia, she collaborates with clients ranging from high-tech companies and government institutions to cultural organizations and children’s publishers. Her work has been featured in international publications, books, and exhibitions.
  • Stephen Lindsay – Stephen is a seasoned senior data professional, and throughout his 20+ year career, he has developed data visualizations, statistical models and analytical solutions across diverse industries including charity, finance, health & beauty, nature, education, pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, pensions, start-ups, marketing, and biotech. He can manage and implement data projects that demand prompt and precise data solutions, and he adapts to fit with the needs of his clients.   • Hunter Muse – Hunter is a healthcare-focused data engineer and founder of Midwest Data Factory, where he helps organizations turn complex, siloed data into reliable insights and automated workflows. With over a decade of experience in analytics engineering, he specializes in building modern data platforms using Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Databricks, and SQL.   • Fabian Lang – Fabian is as an award-winning data visualization and information designer based in Switzerland with 17 years of experience, dedicated to turning complex information and data into clear, effective and compelling visual experiences. His infographics book on the Swiss mountains, published in 2024, won the gold medal in the 2024 Information is Beautiful Awards and also took home bronze at the 2025 European Design Awards. Fabians design skills include Adobe Illustrator, Canva, D3.js, Datawrapper, Figma, and Flourish Studio.
  • Matthew Carmean – Matthew is a seasoned ecommerce professional, data storyteller, and business analyst, and he helps organizations find and communicate powerful data insights that shape high-level business decisions. He coaches and consults with data and business professionals on how to uncover real business insights and communicate them with clarity, empathy, and impact. If you want to work with Matthew, he has four service listings posted: A Looker Studio or Power BI dashboard audit & tune-up, a business reporting audit and transformation, a customer exploratory analysis session, and individual-based data storytelling coaching.
  • Tom Evans – Tom is a creative technologist, which means he uses a wide range of tools, techniques and technology to bring ideas to life. He works across the full project lifecycle, from concept generation through to deployment. He has been in digital for over twenty years and combines deep experience with curiosity, imagination and empathy. Over the years he has worked with clients like Information is Beautiful, Beyond Words, the BBC, and Channel 4 on a huge range of projects.
  • Alex Waleczek – Alex is an analytics consultant with 10 years of experience advising on, developing & maintaining analytics systems for small start-ups & international corporations. Since 2023, he has worked as an independent consultant offering his expertise, without the overhead of big teams and competing priorities. He advises, designs, builds and maintains analytics systems that combine and harmonize data from multiple data sources and allow businesses to see performance across Salesforce and other systems, often using tools like Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt, Tableau and CRMA.
